: In movie the Matrix: Reloaded, Morpheus said:
: I believe it is our fate to be here.
: It is our destiny.
: I believe this night holds for each and every one of us, the very meaning of our lives.

: What is the difference between "fate" and "destiny" then?

I'd say one's "fate" is an outcome that is to be accepted passively, while one's "destiny" is to be actively pursued. Both fate and destiny are inevitable, but the difference is how the end arrives.
