Black Irish

I've heard the phrase "Black Irish." I'm going to have to dig in my genealogy books for an answer on this one. It doesn't mean an African in Ireland. Off the top of my head, it means a particular sub-set of Irishman. One with dark hair and eyes rather than red hair.
