Eyes bigger than the stomach
We all know the phrase "his eyes were bigger than his stomach" (he imagined eating more than he could, so put more in his plate than he should). The other day I heard somebody say "his imagination was larger than his hands" .. meaning, from the context, his imagination was greater than what he could accomplish.
Anyone have any more phrases along this line (that being that imagination goes beyond what we tend to be capable of doing)?? - Patty
For a few years I've been grousing about everything taking longer to do than one would think when planning to do it: "Thought has wings. Action has only feet." I make no claim for it as a set phrase.
