A snappy word or phrase to describe these
I'm tickled by the humorous use of new meanings for old words.
Examples include:
? Rapscallion: Funky spring onion
? Disconsolate: A particular embassy
I haven't been able to learn of a snappy word or phrase to describe these. Does anyone have any ideas? They're called "daffynitions".
Popularised by a tremendous British radio programme ('I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue') there is now a book of these: 'The Uxbridge English Dictionary'.
