Cockroach detritus

I just read the phrase "cockroach detritus" and thought it a useful phrase that should enjoy more widespread usage.

Is it used to describe a low type of person? If it is, I like it. Similar to "odious owl sh*t" or "pond scum" or "dog droppings."
